 Fox Star Movies' Subhash Kapoor (of PHAS GAYE RE OBAMA fame) directed JOLLY L.L.B.. is a satirical courtroom drama that has a touch of comedy and romance as well. The music of the film has been composed by Krsna, more famous for his chartbusting and some memorable compositions in TANU WEDS MANU and lyrics have been penned by Subhash Kapoor and Vayu. So one does expect Krsna to work his magic once again and prove second time lucky for the entire team. So let us check out!



It's a humorous-cum-satirical beginning with 'Jooth Boliya', a superb situational fun composition based on the popular Punjabi folk song. Making it special is Kamaal Khanwho is simply wonderful as he modulates his vocals to suit Arshad Warsi to the tee but the USP of the song is superbly apt satirical lyrics (by Vayu with inputs from Subhash Kapoor) that highlight the ills prevailing in the society. 

The second version of 'Jooth Boliya', remixed by Pritesh Mehta, makes for an interesting hear with just the right added beats and DJ tricks. 

'Daru Peeke Nachna' is up next and it's a light 'nok-jhok', 'chhed-chhad' love duet sung by Mika Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. The fun never stops as both the protagonists debate over the effects of alcohol ('daru') but it's once again the lyrics that act as the icing on the cake. 

The remixed version of 'Daru Peeke Nachna' (by Pritesh Mehta) is more pacy with lots of background techno music, and synth sounds makes this one more dance inducing. 

Patrons of evergreen Bollywood music will never forget Sunil Dutt's super hit number, 'Chalo Ek Baar Phir Se Ajnabi Ban Jayein Hum Dono' (GUMRAH). Composed by late Ravi but is remembered more for its amazing lyrics by Sahir Ludhianvi. With Subhash Kapoor taking these lines as inspiration, we have the ultra-zany, light banter, conversational type yet melodic at heart number, 'Ajnabi', rendered superbly by Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal. It would be real fun to watch Arshad-Amrita enacting this fun number on -screen.


Kailash Kher's 'alaap' and harmonium set pace for this zany, hilarious and satirical composition, 'Hans Ki Chaal', that is set in the traditional 'qawwali' mode with its focus on sweet melody. The song elaborates the hopeless situation that the lead protagonist, Jolly finds himself in, with the public ridiculing him for his failures but egging him on to do something worthwhile in life. 

Last but not the least is 'L Lag Gaye' (a loosers anthem as per the composer himself!) and it's the new item number crooner, Bappi Lahiri, who renders this number in his own characteristic lovable style. Another situational number but has the potential to emerge as a chartbuster (if it is not just promotional) taking into consideration the lyrics which should definitely appeal to the masses and youth and its heavy promotion. 

The number also appears in another version as 'Law Lag Gaye' but it's almost the same song with the exception of the obvious. 

Concluding the album one must accept that Krsna has worked his magic despite the fact that the situations (in the script) demanded out of the box thinking. He has been is helped to a huge extent by some unconventional but superbly apt and interesting lyrics by Subhash Kapoor! Our picks are 'Jooth Boliya', 'Daru Peeke Nachna' and 'Ajnabi'. Since all the songs are situational they will attain more popularity when the film releases all over on 15th March.
